Palette of Closeness: Reflections of Poetry in Painting – Visual Interpretation of Verse
Song of Emergence
I think – I am invisible Living beneath my cloak I think – I am far away Whom is there to blame?
I listen – I am too quiet Why don’t I let my voice out? I listen – it says: I want out We are one, do not suppress us!
I touch all my dreams from within I taste the depth too, I do not fear it Scents embrace and wash over me
I know that, like everyone, I have abundance to give I do not need to, and I must not hide it I feel, in togetherness lies the secret of being
I see the light of the path, the darkness recedes And when I step forward, with faith, and not alone I know, it is time, I am here now, with you

I COLLECT
I collect the fragments of a dream
Waiting for the new day arrival
In which again I will not find you.
In this half-sleep
With your hand on my shoulder
I know that we are both here
At the same moment, at the same time.
And when I open my eyes
I will know that the day has come
In which again I will not find you.

REFUGE
Can’t you
fall asleep?
I’ll wrap you
in the mantle of
my sleepiness

THAT DAY
That day when they ordered me to disappear
I was already waiting for them.
I was one step ahead,
A step behind,
I was everywhere around them.
In the confusion of their existence
They did not notice, did not grasp
That I’m letting them
Not to see
That I am
In them. Kristina Šubašić, 7.5.2023
